With no taxing authority, Rockland BOCES relies only on the fees and tuition it charges its school districts. In order to enable school districts to participate in as broad a range of programs as possible to meet the needs of their students, BOCES is committed to keeping its operating costs down to a minimum. But school district budgets are being stretched to the limit, and sometimes valuable enriching experiences are lost to Rockland BOCES students. That is why Rockland BOCES Family Resource Center Foundation was created in July of 2015. We now have seven members on our Board, many with previous charitable board experience. We are all volunteers – no one receives compensation of any kind.
With the money raised from successful fund raising efforts, we plan to support many activities; initially focusing on an After School Program and expansion of our Backpack Food Pantry Program, as well as scholarships.
These programs, chosen from dozens of activities, were selected because of their creativity, need and broad scope of their missions.
